How Total Fishing Gear was Formed
The Total fishing gear gear fishing tackle range has been developed by a couple of fishermen Matt Hayes and Simeon Bond. Matt Hayes needs no introduction at all we have all watched him on Total Fishing even if you dont fish. Simeon and Matt have been friends for a very long time . In the nineties, when Simeon was a manager for Shimano he he employed Matt as a consultant and began Matt’s career that would see him hit the top of the TV angling tree with shows like Total Fishing where you can see him using Baitboats and the like
When he decided it was time to produce his own fishing gear in the form of Total Fishing Gear he did not think twice about persuading Simeon to work with him and hence Matt Hayes fishing tackle was born Total Fishing Gear

It should be no surprise to any anglers out there that many rods are designed by factory engineers in the far east and tested by men wearing suits in offices: sat around the boardroom table
Matt was determined that this would not happen with Total Fishing Gear and every product that makes it to the Total fishing gear range has been tried and tested by either Matt or other top-level fishermen who are experts in their field; the match rods, for example, have been secretly tested by a leading fishing team; the carp blanks have been used and abused by crazy ‘carpies’ and, of course, Matt Hayes has enjoyed putting all of the fishing rod blanks through a rigorous trial and personally handled several of the developments.
TFG products are not tested in the warmth of an office : they are tested on the river bank, in the cold and in action and it shows. After all the rigorous tests for action and performance, every fishing tackle item is thoroughly examined to establish whether major or minor improvements that would improve its performance.
